JONATHAN WARMAN is a writer, editor and stage director residing in New York City. He was the exclusive theater critic for the New York Blade. Previous to that, he was Associate Editor of HX Magazine, the original weekly gay nightlife guide, where he was also their exclusive theater critic. Also, recently, he has done line editing for the Post War & Contemporary and Old Masters departments of Christie’s Auction House. In the late 1990s he was Managing Editor of Western European Stages, the leading American journal of contemporary Western European Theater. In the mid-90s he was an editor at Culture Shock, the weekly culture edition of Washington Square News, contributing articles about theater, travel, music and film. In the theater world he is the director and conceiver of White City, a new musical with music and lyrics by Pete Townshend of The Who, currently in development. He is also Artistic Director of NeoNeo Theatre Company, and company member of Emerging Artists Theatre. Directing credits with NeoNeo: Andru’s Head (co-directed with Mark Dendy, Players’ Theatre), American Fabulous (Duplex Cabaret Theatre); with Emerging Artists: Struck / Break, Recoil (Semi-Finalist: Samuel French Short Play Festival). International directing credits: Dreams Reoccurring (Universitatea A. I. Cuza, Iasi, Romania). Notable assistant directing credits: Three Sisters (La MaMa ETC, dir. Richard Schechner) and Rosencrantz si Guildenstern sunt Morti (Teatru National Vasile Alecsandri, Iasi, Romania, dir. Ovidiu Lazar).
